Just a quick update with some overdue photos. (top: my new faithful running partner slash alarm clock, middle: Max and Bo on the train at Gage park, bottom: explanation below)
Max is very sensitive (okay, terrified) by loud or unexpected noises (think animated toys that shouldn’t move, whistles, fireworks, car horns, etc) so this can sometimes complicate life. Especially when part of your dad’s job is to attend sporting events to support KU athletes. When discussing our plans at the breakfast table we reminded Max that we would be meeting dad at the KU Volleyball game around lunch.
Max: “But they aren’t going to yell or have whistles, right?” … (flashbacks of our first game last year that began with a loud whistle, followed by lots of tears, shameless attempts at bribing Max into the gym with concession stand treats, and ended with eating a hot dog in the hall outside of the gym.)
We charged forward hoping that he had outgrown this fear. Fail. Max is still not a fan of the whistles or the girls (pronounced “grills”) yelling. So we improvised.
These two boys are part of our life now… and our life involvesĀ loud gyms… so strap on your noise-canceling headphones and hold on.

Such handsome young men!!! Hope he really outgrows the noise thing..haha
Does Bo like the noise..they seem to be 2 very different little handsome boys…
Precious boys and yep, life is good!! Glad Abby was able to hang out with them a little this week. I love hearing about them!! Love you guys!

Your little guys are so handsome and your account of Max’s reaction to loud noises is humorous, but the photo of him in the giant headphones cracked me up. He must have sensitive ears to go with his super duper sense of smell.
Looks like you all hit on a solution.
